Sebring 2005 - Thursday Practice Sessions

Starting on Wednesday evening, it rained all day until Thursday night. It was also getting colder. We decided to wait it out in the camper, and not get drenched and/or sick.

ALMS qualifying was canceled due to the heavy amounts of rain and standing water on the track. Starting grid would be determined by the previous practice times. That put the two Audi's at the front of the prototypes, and the two factory Corvette C6-Rs on the pole of GT1.

I finally did venture out for the ALMS night practice. The factory Corvette team ran just enough laps to make all 3 drivers elgible to drive at night for the 12 hours. Elgibility requires 3 laps in night practice. Most teams followed a similar lead, and practiced very little on wet track at night. Weather was forecast to be great for race, so no real benefit to practicing in the wet.
